About The Artist
About The Illustrator

In addition to being a fine art painter, Seymour Schachter is considered one of the top commercial artists in the country. Although he was thought an artistic prodigy, his “old school” parents insisted he go to business school. He chose Boston University, not because of their renowned business school, but because it enabled him to study at BU’s prestigious College of Fine Art, where he was hailed as one of their top students.
Following graduation, while attending a business meeting in France, all he could think about was painting the French countryside. It was at that pivotal moment he realized he needed to follow his heart and made an on-the-spot decision to pursue an art career. Seymour immersed himself in art, taking classes at New York’s School of Visual Art, which led him to become one of the head artists for the leading commercial art studio in advertising under the mentorship of the legendary Neal Adams.

Eleven years later, Seymour launched his own studio, Seymour Schachter Illustration, where he has illustrated for thousands of products and campaigns for a virtual ‘who’s who’ of advertising. It is estimated that his art is in 1 of every 3 households in the U.S. !

Throughout all of this commercial success, Seymour’s heart was still in painting, like the French countryside he visited 30 years ago. Seymour has been painting on commission for several years, but has only recently begun selling these pieces publicly. His latest work, Glory, took him six years to complete.

He has won some of the most prestigious national and global awards in the industry, and is a sought after lecturer for colleges, artist organizations, and advertising agencies.
